Introducing Adaptive AVS Logic: Recover Approvals Lost to Address Mismatches

Every day, legitimate payments fail because of minor address discrepancies. A typo in a street name. A ZIP code that doesn't quite match. These aren't fraud signals—they're fixable errors that cost you real revenue.

Today,we're introducing Adaptive AVS Logic, a new capability in the Revaly platform that turns address-related declines into approvals, automatically.

Why Adaptive AVS Logic Matters

Issuers are precise about address verification. When something doesn't match exactly—even if the customer is real and the card is valid—the payment canfail. Adaptive AVS Logic catches these opportunities and acts on them:

  • Approvals you were losing now land. Transactions that failed due to address mismatches get recovered without you lifting a finger.
  • Customers never know there was a problem. No decline notices, no "update your payment info" emails for issues that were always fixable.

Fewer failed payments means cleaner recovery queues, less manual work, and revenue that actually arrives when it's supposed to.

How It Works

When a payment fails due to a partial address mismatch, Revaly recognizes what's fixable. On the next retry attempt, we intelligently adjust the address data before sending the transaction, giving it the best chance to approve.

If the retry succeeds, the customer only ever sees "payment successful."If it doesn't, you're no worse off—the transaction continues through your existing recovery flow as it would have originally.

Where Adaptive AVS Logic Fits

Revaly's platform acts across the entire payment lifecycle. Adaptive AVS Logic works alongside capabilities like Inline Retry and Intelligent Timing, catching address-related failures that other optimizations can't solve.

It's one more layer of approval optimization—quietly converting mistakes into revenue.

Getting Started

Adaptive AVS Logic is automatically enabled for Quick Start and Enterprise merchants. No integration changes, no new rules to configure. You'll see treatment metrics in your Revaly dashboard showing how many payments were treated and how many were recovered.

If you're not yet using Revaly and want to understand how much revenue you might be losing to address mismatches, get in touch with our team for a payment performance assessment.

Q&A

Q: What kinds of address errors does this fix?
A: Adaptive AVS Logic targets partial mismatches—situations where part of the address verifies but part doesn't. These are the cases where the customer is clearly real, but a small discrepancy is blocking the approval.

Q: Does this change my customer's address data permanently?
A: No. Adjustments are applied only for the retry attempt. Your records stay intact.

Q: Will this increase fraud risk?
A: No. Adaptive AVS Logic only applies to partial mismatches where issuer signals indicate the customer is legitimate. It doesn't bypass AVS checks or weaken fraud controls.

Q: How will I know it's working?
A: You'll see metrics in your Revaly dashboard showing transactions treated by Adaptive AVS Logic, approval outcomes, and recovered revenue.

Q: Do I need to do anything to enable this?
A: No. Adaptive AVS Logic is automatically enabled. No integration changes required.
